Education Week at BYU

Here I am with Matt, who drove down to meet Tawna and me for lunch at the Wilkinson Center. Also with my friends Jane Eaton, Bev Williams, Tawna Petersen, & Tawna's daughter Jeanne' Mason. We stayed at Gates Hall this year. The thermostat didn't work so we froze or cooked in the dorm. Excellent classes, tho, as usual.

We all got together at a resort in Phoenix from August 5-12th. It was HOT but at least we were near the pool. We had two units for 4 families and packed everyone in. The day before we celebrated Shana's birthday in Cottonwood, then Nancy & Roger's 12th anniversary, and also Jo Lynn's birthday. Lots of good food and plenty of games. It was wonderful having most of the family together for the week. Tiffany, we missed you again.

We missed you, Tiffany!

Dave & Dona Garner with family

Garner's House

Brad, Lindsay, and Teresa stopped by.

Golden Corral

After the ceremony we met at the Golden Corral for lunch and then visited with my parents at their home. My mother was not well enough to go to the temple, but did make it to the restaurant afterward.

Family after sealing ceremony in Utah

This photo was taken outside the temple with my dad, Dave Garner, in the center. L to R are Matt & Corinne Packer, Lou & Angie Mills, Grandpa Garner, Jed & Shana Packer, and Jo Lynn & Chad Backus. Grandpa has now performed the sealing of all his grandchildren who have been married in the temple. He is 84 and has muscular dystrophy, so this could be the last time he has the privilege
Top photo is Jo Lynn & Chad, 2nd is Matt & Corinne, 3rd is Jed & Shana, 4th is my children with me, and last is Angie & Lou Mills.

Angie & Lou sealed for eternity

Angie and Lou were sealed in the Jordan River, Utah, Temple on August 1st. Her grandpa, David Garner officiated. At the sealing were Jed & Shana, Matt & Corinne, Jo Lynn & Chad. My brother Brad and his wife, Teresa were also in attendance. Lou's brother and sister joined us. We were fortunate to be able to schedule when Jed and his family were on vacation and able to be with us in Utah.

Colorado photos

family fun

Fourth of July camping trip to Colorado

Chad's parents own 6 acres along the Delores River in Delores, Colorado. They were gracious and invited us all up to spend some time there. Angie, Lou, Maddy, Michael, Joshua, & Nicholas came up from Mesa. Lou, bless his heart, did all the cooking. It was wonderful. Matt, Corinne, Ryan, Blake, and Bryce came down from Kaysville. Jo and Chad were there with Madi, Sadie, Shacee, and Taylin. Roger and I brought Murphy, Sassy, and Max. We had a great time, with the exception of my near drowning in the river. Chad came to the rescue after I was knocked off my inner tube and lost it. He caught it downriver and paddled back up to me in his kayak.

Disney World

Jed & Shana took their family to Disney World. Along for the trip were Shana's sister & family, Zondra, and Beneau. They had lots of rain. Up until May, Florida was very dry. Just rotten luck for them, although they had a great time anyway.

Pioneer Trek

Chad and Jo went as a Ma and Pa to a group of 14 teenagers with a handcart. They were lucky enough to go to the mountains south of Flagstaff and had perfect weather. All of them learned a lot about being a pioneer--the hardships, trials, and close friendships.

Jo Lynn Piano Recital

Jo has been taking piano lessons from a lady in the ward who does it for free. She wants everyone to be prepared for when they get called on a mission and the members need music people
